Eastertide

I hope you had a lovely Easter!

Ours was full of hikes, aunties and uncles, green budding branches, the first little tulips, bonfires and chocolate(—oh boy, have we had chocolate!) With my sisters departing for the West Coast and leaving to finish school, with the cousins newly arrived from Australia, it was delicious just to gather...

and remember that the light of Christ has come into the world...

Willie and his new home schooling friends dug an enormous fire pit in the back yard.

We heard a lot of good music from papa and the uncles—heavy on the Leonard Cohen, light on the Irish.

We ate and drank. We woke up and did it all over again!

  3. Happy Easter to all of your sweet souls! I have to inquire about the Boba carrier. How do you find it compares to the Ergo? With a new little one on the way I've been thinking about such things, especially since our Ergo has carried two babes through many, many days and has aged quite a bit. Genevieve still climbs up on Papa's back quite often these days since I'm too sick to wear her much anymore. Blessings to you all, and beautiful photos as usual!

    1. QUOI?!! Oh Erin, congratulations, this is the first I've heard! How exciting!

The boba feels just the same as the ergo. I'm impressed with the buckles and straps, it feels really sturdy. I went with a boba because it costs considerably less and is made in the US as oppose to china! There's an organic option too.

    2. Actually, there's one thing I miss about the ergo: the zipper pocket. There's no pocket on the Boba. Sometimes you just want to shove your keys and wallet into the pocket when you go into a store. So I'm thinking of sewing on a pocket.

But for what it's worth, Boba's score higher in most reviews for comfort and durability. I thought the buckles were the weak point on the ergo, but Boba uses military grade material...sturdy!

    3. Where did you buy yours? I love the grey and didn't really care for all the patters I saw on-line.

    4. I can't remember the name of the shop. The boba company discontinued the two-tone greys ("twilight") for some reason, but you can contact them and ask what stores still carry it. That's what I did, because I knew I wanted grey! Why is it so hard to find neutral-colour baby carriers? I mean, you have to WEAR them, for goodness sake!

I'll send you a few possibilities. If you don't mind forking over the cash, you can get some totally gee-or-gee-us custom made carriers. Far from neutral, but totally rad.

Ergo makes a grey carrier now!

    5. Thanks Mary! I was searching around on-line and the only site I found with a grey one said it was out of stock. Hmm. They do have a black and grey one. And various brown ones too. The red-headed Everett clan has a brown one that works so well with their skin tones, but I don't know about me and brown. I love dusty blues and greys so much better. I wonder if it would be cheaper to order from the US and have the inlaws bring one up in May? My due date seems so far off still, but I know will be here before we know it (St. Therese is our official date...October 1st). Hoping to see you for Rachel's shower in May!

    6. Excuse me for budding, but I can't help but chime in. I am personally not a fan of the Ergo, both because I found the body too short for older babes and I couldn't cinch the straps tight enough. I haven't tried a Boba (which is made in China, at least on their website) but I used, with great satisfaction, an Action Baby Carrier. They aren't well known, but are comfortable and are made in the US. No pockets, but the shoulder straps unclip so you can cross the straps, very helpful when doing a front carry alone. And they are more affordable. The only downside I found is that the fabric isn't 100% cotton.

    7. thanks, Naomi! Yes, I noticed that Boba outsources their products now. Sell out! I'd never heard of Action baby Carrier—gorgeous fabrics, eh? The upside of blended fabric is durability...so there's that to consider....
